What are Dental Crowns?
You can think of a dental crown as a “cap” over your existing tooth. Crowns are used to restore the shape, strength and appearance of your tooth due to damage or decay. Your tooth can lose its shape due to a number of factors including the repair of a cavity or a chipped tooth.
Are Dental Crowns Painful?
You should not feel anymore discomfort than a typical filling due to the numbing agents we use. If you start to feel pain we will make adjustments to create as much of a pain-free experience as possible. You will be well cared for at South Fallsburg Dentistry.
Types of Dental Crowns
Temporary Crown – These are used to cover your tooth until a permanent crown can be made.
One-Day Crown – Sometimes it is possible to have a crown formed on your first visit so a temporary crown is not necessary.
Onlay or 3/4 Crown – This is a crown that only covers part of the tooth.
Your Types of Fillings we Offer
Crowns can be made from the following materials:
- composite resin
- a combination of materials
Veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are not often covered by insurance. You could expect to pay between $500 and $2,500 per tooth for veneers. Veneers generally last between 5 to 7 years before they need to be replaced.
We do not recommend sleeping with dentures as bacteria may build up and cause infection. It is recommended you soak your dentures overnight in denture solution to kill any bacteria.
The average cost typically ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 but depending on many factors these prices and vary greatly. We will be happy to discuss your options.
You should get your teeth cleaned by a local dentist every 6 months. Between cleanings you should brush your teeth and floss a minimum of twice daily. We recommend using a waterpik if you can to help clean your teeth and gums.
