What is a root canal?
A root canal removes a damaged or infected area of a tooth without having to remove the tooth. Your dentist will remove the infected area so it does not continue to spread. You might need a root canal if you have:
- Severe toothache pain
- Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
- Darkening or discoloration of the tooth
- Swelling and tenderness around the tooth
- A pimple on the gums
Are root canal procedures painful?
Many patients feel little discomfort during the procedure. You might feel pressure at times but your dentist will monitor your pain closely thought the procedure to make sure you do not experience discomfort. After your root canal
After a root canal, pain is usually mild. You will likely only need an over-the-counter option such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil). You should avoid chewing hard foods as well as extreme hot or cold foods. You will be able to drive and return to your normal days activities directly after a root canal.
Veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are not often covered by insurance. You could expect to pay between $500 and $2,500 per tooth for veneers. Veneers generally last between 5 to 7 years before they need to be replaced.
We do not recommend sleeping with dentures as bacteria may build up and cause infection. It is recommended you soak your dentures overnight in denture solution to kill any bacteria.

You should get your teeth cleaned by a local dentist every 6 months. Between cleanings you should brush your teeth and floss a minimum of twice daily. We recommend using a waterpik if you can to help clean your teeth and gums.
